I'm a social media manager...who HATES social media! 🤣

Gina Ludwig

I have never been a fan of social media, neither professionally nor personally. There's a part of me that feels a bit envious of people who love it. Like...what am I missing?

Social media is like any tool—it can be helpful or harmful. You can use fire to warm yourself and cook your food, but it can also burn your house down. And in my opinion...most people are burning the house down.

Ok...Ok...I won't use this blog post as my personal soapbox to delve into the mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual toll that social media is taking on our society. I'll save that for my intimate gatherings and dinner parties! 😂

As much as I hate social media, I do admit that it is a necessary evil in business.

Can you build a successful business without social media? There is much debate about this, and my personal opinion is that yes, you can—but it would be difficult.

In our digital age, people expect a successful, thriving business to have an active social media presence. Not doing so can certainly skew people's perceptions and lead them to assume that you are NOT a successful and thriving business.

So, what should someone who feels the need to create an active social media presence but hates social media do? Become a social media manager, I guess! lol

The reason I decided to begin offering social media management is two-fold. It started with client after client asking me if I did social media management. To which I would reply, "No, I don't," but what I was thinking was, "HELL no, I don't!"

I had absolutely no interest in handling anyone's social media—I don't even like doing my own.

However, as client after client continued to ask me, it made me realize that I am very much in the majority regarding how people feel about social media. They hate it as much as I do. I finally realized that this was a way I could truly be of service to my clients, relieving a major pain point in their business and their lives.

Ok, I thought to myself, if I'm going to do this, I am going to do it in a way that not only serves my clients but also serves me. I have to come up with a way to streamline the process and make it easy and enjoyable.

First of all, I knew that I could not and did not want to be everything to everyone!

My ideal client understands that social media is a necessary evil. They are someone who, if given the chance, would do away with social media altogether. My ideal client is not focused on CRUSHING and DOMINATING social media or, god forbid, becoming an influencer! Their main focus is to take a break. They want to know that their social media is being taken care of so they can focus their valuable time, attention, and mental space on more important things.

I also know that my ideal client does not want to spend thousands of dollars on a marketing strategy that they despise!

Listen, I understand paying $1000+ a month for a social media manager IF your objective is to crush and dominate! If you want someone who will create and post multiple times a day, generate mass amounts of original content with trending audio, nurture your followers, and answer your DMs, that IS worth $1000+ a month! Geez, I am tired just thinking about it!

I do NOT offer social media management for people who want to crush and dominate. That's too much pressure, and I'm not about that life! I offer social media management for people like me—people who hate social media and would be happy if they never had to deal with it again. I offer social media management for people who need a break—a break from social media itself but, more importantly, from the mental and emotional toll worrying about social media takes on them.

So, how did someone like me, who hates social media, become a social media manager? By doing it my way! By being upfront and honest about what I offer and putting it out there for people who really get it. People who understand how utterly ridiculous it is to stress about keeping up with trending audio or algorithms. To be quite frank, people who do not give a shit about social media or who are ready to stop giving so many shits about it! THAT is my ideal client!

If this is you...let's chat! If you are team "crushing and dominating," good luck with that, and let me know how it turns out!
